Obituary of Douglas Lytle Robinson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Lytle Robinson who passed away on Saturday, Nov 7, 2015 at the age of 63. Doug was predeceased by his parents, George Arthur and Agnes Louise Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Goggin); his three children, Michael (Jennifer), Kelli (Arunan) and Jennifer (Michael); his grandson, Paul; his two brothers, Duncan (Loretta) of Nanaimo, BC and David (Helen) of Bracebridge, Ontario, along with nieces and nephews, Jeffrey, Natalie, Kristin, Anna and Ian. Doug graduated from UNB Fredericton in 1975 with a degree in Physical Education. Although he started out as a teacher he had always dreamed of being a pilot. He moved away from teaching, received his early training at the Moncton Flying Club and good fortune came his way when he was hired at Eastern Flying Services in 1980 and over the next few years was promoted to the position of Chief Pilot and then Operations Manager. Doug joined Air Nova in 1987 first flying the Dash - 8 aircraft and then was promoted to Captain in 1990 on the BAE-146 jet aircraft. He served as a Training Captain for 3 years and then returned to line flying. He completed his training and was checked out on the RJ aircraft in 2005 and completed 28 years of service with Air Nova/Jazz and a grand total of 36 years in the flying industry. A caring husband and father, Doug had many loves. Love of family- following his children in their chosen activities and so proud of their accomplishments. Love of travel and sports. Love of the Boston Bruins. Love of cooking and searching YouTube for recipes. Doug was very passionate about everything he did. He was always professional in the flight deck and respectful of fellow officers and crew. Over the years he earned many citations and tributes from passengers, administration and crew for his dedication and caring way. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 6-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Vernon Vickruck officiating. Following the service, family and friends are invited to stay for a time of fellowship and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Douglas may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Moncton SPCA or to the charity of one’s choice.
