Albert “B” Joseph Melanson

September 12, 1927-August 17, 2010

Sackville, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of Albert J. Melanson announce his passing on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, N.B. Albert was 82 years of age.

Born on September 12, 1927 in Sackville, N.B., he was the son of the late Emma (Richard) and Joseph Melanson.

Albert was well known and loved by many and affectionately called “B”. He worked for many years at Enterprise Foundry and will be remembered as a kind-hearted person who loved to joke. Albert adored his children and his family and was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Albert will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Shirley (Butler) Melanson of Sackville; two daughters, Joan (Gordie) O’Neal and Betty (Cecil) Dickie, both of Sackville; sister, Lena (Hyle) Beal of Oshawa, Ontario; grandchildren, Scott, Lesley, Shane, Rhonda, Charlene, Stephanie, Luke, Natasha and Cheyenne; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, John; brothers, Henry, Harvey and Ernie and by his sisters, Ida and Mary.

Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 2 PM with Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery following the service.

Donations in memory of Albert may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Canadian Cancer Society Research Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.
